Asylum Processing
Joyce and Associates specializes in asylum cases. Retired Judge Joyce was involved in developing asylum policy while with the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), now BCIS for over twenty years before coming the legal advisor to the Chief Immigration Judge, and then a sitting Immigration Judge in the Boston Immigration Court for over six years.
Since beginning his private practice over three years ago, Joyce and Associates has won numerous and diverse cases both before the asylum office and the Immigration Court. He and his staff believe that the secret to success in the asylum field is a thoroughly prepared case that is skillfully presented. This includes knowledge of the individual cases as well as conditions in the country from which asylum is requested.
Asylum may be requested by an individual who has a well founded fear of returning to his/ her country based on race, religion, political opinion, nationality or membership in a particular social group. An individual may also be eligible for withholding of removal or Torture Convention relief if asylum is unavailable. Usually, a consultation is appropriate to assess whether or not asylum may be an avenue of relief for you. It is often only after a thorough discussion of circumstances can a determination be made if it is appropriate to proceed.
